  That feels a lot like love,

But devils prefer subterfuge

I thought we had found happiness

  In love that wasn't blind;

  Was truth flawed by design,

Colder than the mirror's indifference

Synergy has become just energized chaos

And the reality of it all has finally breached the distance with its mildew-laden dawn

You are made of lies

  Deceit in slow disguise

     Behind the eyes that hypnotize

Your "truth," it was unfounded

  And your lies have been found out 

Your empty words now fall apart

  And            into doubt  

Your promises unravel

  All we were, now comes undone

An            of fading memory

  That just blisters in the sun

Forever's been rescinded

  And the candle's flame is spent,

Romance replaced with misery

  And contentment with contempt

Anger turns to sadness,

  Turns to bitterness and pain,

As fondness turns to tragedy

  And your scent becomes a stain

A stain that cannot be resolved, not even with the rain

   And despite all my attempts to fly, I still remain constrained

My love continues to be constrained by gravity;

  Restrained, contained, and framed

     Into a portrait that slowly fades

         And loses shades --

            Losing strains of color with every grey touch of a smile that fades away...

I'm trying not to find despair

  But feel it may find me,

Feel it lurking in the shadows

  Where your presence used to be;

And everything that you have touched,

  Now ruined beyond repair --

Reeking with abandonment

  Inside a cold, blank stare

Frag  men  ted               isolation

  Glowing embers of betrayal and frozen (teardrops) of vast indifference

     Combined, they form one singular vacuum

         An echo of solitude, an echo of seclusion

Abyss becomes a sanctuary,

  A place to hide from pain,

A shelter from your absence

  And the never-ending rain;

A stark contrast to beauty,

  A seismic shift in form,

This resonating hollowness

  That from your soul is born

The shining stars burn out inside,

  The oceans become sand,

And all I ever cared about

  Goes sliding through my hands,

As my heartstrings come unraveled,

  Then become threadbare and worn,

To reveal the withered heart beneath,

  Now distant and forlorn

Convicted of the treason

  Of allowing myself trust,

I gave to you the power

  To turn everything to dust

A simple, selfless gesture

  In a prayer for your heart

But in the end, just emptiness...

  As worlds are torn apart...
