So I suppose that you may never truly
           Understand all this

These cross-sections of reality and             Perceptions
That constitute a viewpoint and a few           Personal truths

But it's really not all that bad sometimes;
  This self-imposed exile
To which I occasionally find myself              Confined

Consider it a shield that blocks the pain      Of misguidance

Regard it as a barrier that deflects the         Sting of words wished not spoken
And counteracts the effects of                   Your own apathy (the rust of the soul)

The way that we push others away

To draw them in
  And then push them away

To draw them in
  And then push them away

So I draw into myself sometimes
Yet still draw to the world
A million different passions
  In a million different swirls

And it's really not all that bad sometimes

But every time I pass your window
It just hurts a little more...

(A million different things to a million            different people...)  [secrets in subtext]
