Heart-X

Have you ever been a witness
To the form and to the fitness
Of a heart overdosed on love?
Watching images of feeling
   Being poured out, so revealing,
To form blood red skies above?

As the heartbeat starts to quicken
And the muscles start to stiffen,
From a love that's set on overload,
What was once a gorgeous treasure
Just becomes too great a pressure
So the heart, now it just explodes.

And everything that mattered,
Like this heart, is now just shattered,
And you feel like you're about to die.
But as you lie there slowly bleeding,
Catch a glimpse of hope, though fleeting,
And decide to give it one last try.

So you piece your heart together,
And you sew it up with leather,

Now it beats, and it works quite well.
But with each and every action,
You can feel the heart's contraction,
And each heartbeat just hurts like Hell.

Like a personal reminder
Now she's gone, you'll never find her
All that's left of her is just this pain,
That will stay with you forever,
Just to cut up and to sever,
'Til you fear that you will go insane.

See, it's not a pretty picture,
   It's like some unholy scripture,
       As you gaze upon this shattered heart;
And though it may not be appealing,
This right here is what I'm feeling,
And I know that this is just the start.

So stand witness at this venue,
As the hurt and pain continue,
       So that you can see how true pain feels;
For if your heart's never been broken,
Then for you, the truth's unspoken,
That this love, it never gives -- it steals.
