She stares down at the water
  Under seas of skies above,
And feels familiar shimmers
That reflect her dreams of love,
As ripples form and currents stream
As to the shores of wonder,
"Why must I drown so horribly
As love's tides pull me under?
Why is my heart so heavy
As it swims against the tide
To try to keep my hopes afloat
  And keep my dreams alive?"
She's slowly answered by the breeze,
  That whispers only nothing,
That, like love's waves, just pass her by --
  So close, but never touching.
She now leans slightly forward
As she stares across the lake,
Across the blue of midnight's heart
  That sparkles as night wakes.
"Inside of so much beauty,
Yet I still feel so alone,
I feel my heart's an orphan
  Without shelter or a home.
If only I could reach the world
And find my love within it,
Such beauty would be magnified
  Until it had no limits."
Such beauty heals a shattered heart,
From all the tears it's bled,
But as these waters fade away,
"It's just a dream," she said.
A single,  lonely teardrop
Now falls gently to the ground,
And like her silent heartache,
  Does not even make a sound;
So as the night continues on,
  In beauty and defiance,
Her heart grows ever darker,
  Ever colder, in the silence.
